Vinyl Windows & Replacement Windows - Reports

How Does Republic Compare?

Thanks for asking, allow us to explain!

  • We have been in business for 16 years as a Class B general contractor (license number 659699) and have a AAA rating with the Better Business Bureau. Check us out at: www.labbb.org and at www.cslb.ca.gov

  • We offer Free Quotes that are good for 30 days. And we encourage you to get other quotes so you can make an informed decision.

  •  We use only the best windows on the market! We carry several different brands of quality windows to give you the window you want at the price you can afford.

  • We use only our own factory trained installers. No sub-contractors! The big box home improvement stores use only subcontractors and don’t pay enough to get the care the installation requires)

  • Our professional installers have years of installation experience and will treat your home like it was their home. They know that a satisfied customer will refer us to their neighbors.

  • We measure and install the windows correctly. All of our vinyl windows are custom made from scratch. We measure your window openings and our window manufacturers make the windows to fit perfectly.

  • After the new windows are screwed into the opening, we insulate around the openings with non-expanding insulating foam to ensure that no air comes in around the window. Most contractors skip this important step. We have heard them say that it is not necessary, especially in California. We say you should and take this simple step and do a better job of insulating the opening?

  • All areas are then caulked, inside and out, for a perfect weather-tight seal. We use the best commercial grade caulk that we can find.

  • We then conduct a complete clean up and haul-away the old windows and the job trash, at no extra charge. We want the clean up to be so good that you can't tell we were even there. (Except for the great new windows that we left behind!)

We also offer the best warranties in the business:

LIFETIME WARRANTY ON ALL PARTS
Provided by our window manufacturers, fully transferable.

LIFETIME WARRANTY ON ALL LABOR
Provided by Republic Windows and Doors if not provided by the window manufacturer.

LIFETIME WARRANTY ON ALL GLASS BREAKAGE*
Provided by Republic if not provided by the window manufacturer.
*Glass breakage warranty applies to vinyl or aluminum replacement windows only.

BOTTOM LINE:

When Republic Windows and Doors installs windows in your home, they are installed correctly and are guaranteed for as long as you own the home.

Parts, labor and accidental glass breakage*.
*The only things not covered are acts of God and nature. We can't compete with that. They are covered by your homeowner's insurance.

Avoid mistakes and rip-offs that could cost you thou$and$ of dollar$!

  • Know what you want ahead of time. Have a plan. What type of replacement windows do you want? Vinyl, Clad, Wood, Aluminum? How many windows do you want to replace and what style do you want? Read this report and know ahead of time some general questions you want to ask, that way, no one can talk you into something you don't want or need.

  •  Get a couple of price quotes. At least 2, but 3 would be better. But don't get too many, you'll just get confused with too much information. Just don't buy from the first guy who walks through your door.

  • Before you let a window company into your home, call the Better Business Bureau and check them out. If a company has a shabby record of doing sloppy business, the bureau will let you know. (www.labbb.org)

  • NEVER let a company talk you into signing a contract "today", with an offer of some special deal that is only good for "today". This is the oldest trick in the book and should be a dead giveaway that something is wrong. If their "special" deal is so special, it will be there tomorrow. The truth is that they are only trying to "lock" you into a contract so that you will not get other estimates. They are hoping that if you have already signed a contract, you won't go to the trouble of getting other estimates. Fact is, when you do get other estimates, you will find out that their "special" deals are just a rip-off. These companies charge $1200-$1400 per opening, which is ridiculous! They will try to entice you with outrageous offers of huge discounts, trying to "lure' you into a contract. The problem is, their starting prices are so high, that even after their huge discounts, the price is still too high. If someone uses the term "sign today", RUN, don't walk, RUN AWAY!

3 Misconceptions that will cost you money when you buy Vinyl Replacement Windows

Misconception #1:

All vinyl windows are the same.

NO! There are several different grades including builder's grade or construction grade windows that can be pretty flimsy. Most manufacturers offer several different grades like good, better and best. One thing you have to watch out for is a company charging top dollar for a low-grade window. And many companies do just that! Check out the window manufacturer's website for information about quality.
At Republic Windows and Doors, we will explain the different windows and help you find the one that is right for you. And we will explain all the available features that you need to get an energy efficient window, such as Low- E glass and tinting.

Misconception #2:
Any window is better than what I have now.

NO! Some vinyl windows are so flimsy; they will warp, sag and allow wind and rain into your home within a few years time. We have actually heard of people having to replace their replacement windows. You should only have to change your windows once!
At Republic Windows and Doors, all the vinyl windows we carry are backed by a lifetime warranty on all parts, labor and accidental glass breakage. If you have windows installed by Republic, you can rest assured that you have purchased a quality window.

There is no such thing as a window installed for only $189. This is bait and switch advertising. They "bait" you with a low price, and "switch" you to a higher price when they get into your home. They'll say the window costs $189, but if you want all the options that you need, the window costs more. The lower price does not include important things like Dual Pane, High Performance, Energy Efficient glass that will save you money on your heating and cooling bills by making your home more energy efficient. The low priced window is usually for a very small window as well, as all windows are priced based on size.

Ask about other services. Does the company clean up and haul-away the old windows? Do they charge for things that should be standard like properly insulating or caulking the new windows?

Who will be installing your windows, factory trained installers who work for the company or hired out sub-contractors? Can you communicate with the installers? Do they speak English?

What kind of Warranties will you be receiving?

Here is the Good News and the Bad News about Warranties.
The Good news is that most manufacturers offer a lifetime warranty on all parts of the window. The bad news is, some don't offer any labor to fix that free part.

The Good news is that most local window dealers offer a labor warranty. The bad news is that the labor warranty is usually only for one year, and then you are on your own.

The Good news is that manufacturers and their warranties are usually pretty reliable. The bad news is that the local window dealer can go out of business or switch to another window manufacturer, leaving their customers frustrated when they need service.

Here's a tip: Find out more about the window manufacturer and the warranties and services they offer. The really great window manufacturers have their own service departments and technicians locally. That way, even if the local window dealer goes out of business, the customer still has service.

Misconception #3:

All companies install windows the same way.

NO! You'd be amazed at how some companies cut corners in order to make a buck, or charge extra for items and services that should be standard.

Some companies will cover up rotten wood around your window frame. At Republic, we replace any and all rotten wood before installing the new window.

We insulate every new window with non-expanding insulating foam. Many companies skip this important step.

Finally, we seal the window inside and out with high quality, commercial grade caulking. Some companies charge extra for caulking your new windows. That should be standard.

At Republic, everything is included in the price. The installation is complete without add-ons.
